Hi, My office 365 subscription was setup using the default Mac email client until last Friday. Over the weekend the authentication which was happening in house within my company for logging on to office 365 was migrated to Microsoft handled cloud.
Ever since the email stopped working. I deleted the account but now I can't setup on my Mac. I can use Outlook for Mac 2016 but I want to use the default client which while setting up errors out saying unable to verify account name or password. I faced similar issue on my iPhone but deleting and recreating solved it on iPhone but it just doesn't works on my Mac. My Skype for business and other office apps are working seamlessly. Any help would be appreciated.
If you are enrolled or have signed up early in 2-Step for Office 365 and you would like to use Outlook 2013, Mac Mail, iPhone/iPad (iOS version 10 or below Apple Mail), or Android Email Clients then you will need to create an App Password to use with the email client instead of your onyen password. The following instructions step through the process of configuring your Office 365 Exchange Online account with Apple Mail for Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), macOS 10.12 (Sierra), macOS 10.13 (High Sierra).
Hi GaganM, Since the Office 365 account is working normally on other devices and clients, which means this account is good. The issue should be related to the default Mac mail app. I just add my test Office 365 account to the default Mail app in our test Mac machine without any issue, so I need to collect more details about the scenario you meet. The last time I set up was with email id and user name different and it worked that way. Anyways I tried using the email id on both the fields but the issue persists and the result is the same error. Just to highlight, that after the movement to Microsoft cloud, the email setup on my iPhone also stopped working.
I deleted the account and set it up and it worked like a charm. No issues on the phone.Personal information deleted by the moderator.
